i'd like to get a really nice scanner soon, something that actually sends uncompressed data to the PC (doesn't compress it as JPEG internally) and uses a CCD sensor with optics that are actually capable of 600dpi - need to do some research on what's available
i'm gonna be out in eastern melbourne this sunday - so if you have heaps of old books/magazines you want to get rid of so I can scan them, I have space in my car to pick them up! DM me if you'd like me to visit

a nice person sent me a couple of APC magazines that were not on the internet archive (or are, but in crap quality) to scan, because they saw my blog post! im not sure if they follow me on mastodon, but thank you :)

Picked up some new guillotine blades off Aliexpress during the sale & cashback offer. They're shit quality, extremely soft (staples cause damage, the steel should be way stronger than a rusty old staple) and can only be sharpened 2-3 times before so much is taken off the blade's edge that it doesn't make contact with the last few pages of whatever I'm cutting, but they're so much cheaper than any other guillotine blade or guillotine. Looking at thousands of dollars for anything better.
what's the name when you search for something and one of the first results is a question you've posted previously?
btw the issue I'm finding now is that not only am I getting double feeds (annoying), my fingers and hands are getting roughed up/dry/cuts from fanning thousands of pages a day - I'm using hand cream multiple times a day and it can't keep up (i could wear gloves? but a machine to do it would be better)

made a little page dedicated to my scanning hobby if anyone is interested - it's not an amazing bit of self-promotion because I hate self-promoting, but it's something - anything interesting I post here on mastodon anyways
