@apc I immediately had to think of the "point shields" that were developed aboard the SDF-1 in the original Macross. They're small shields that are projected on the hull of the ship, ideal for stopping missile attacks. They were controlled by trackballs, so during the battle there was some frantic trackballing from the bridge officers!

@apc Ever since I watched the Robotechified version of Super Dimensional Cavalry Southern Cross, I have been obsessed with the helmets. Open-faced so you can enjoy the wind as you drive your hover-tank in bike mode along the boulevards of the city to go shopping during a patrol, but with a face-plate that can be clamped down for when things get serious. And with individual embellishments like wings and horns, for that much-needed personalization!
