"Eula"

Tall rectangle with a tiny gray tile surface. Red and yellow border of interwoven thin spattered border on three sides. Vertical dividing line in center as well. Two small yellow-orange rectangles with red asemic type at top and bottom left corners. A big fancy red convertible at the lower left corner. A brown blurred line drawing of a 1950s woman in a modest skirted suit in a big pale yellow rectangle at center-left. She walks in high heels and faces left toward the unbordered edge, carrying a small purse. Right side: three stacked pale yellow tile rectangles, each with a circle cut out of its middle. Each one has a tiny numbered label and its cutout reveals either an island with palm trees, a glob of bright yellow paint, or cocktail tumblers with cherries and ice.

Cocktail: The Tea Clipper

This was my first attempt at mixing a cocktail that used a spirit “alternative” (something deliberately created and marketed as a non-alcoholic alternative to a traditional spirit). This one featured The Spirit of Gin from Free Spirits. It was pretty decent.

  • 2 1/2 oz Free Spirits Spirit of Gin
  • 1 oz Earl Grey honey syrup
  • 3-4 oz tonic

Mix the spirit of gin and honey syrup in a shaker with ice and pour into a Collins glass or mason jar over fresh ice. Top with the tonic and garnish with a twist of lemon.

The recipe was from Free Spirits.

The honey syrup was made with several tablespoons of honey added to 8oz of strong Earl Grey tea (I used the decaf Earl Grey from The Whistling Kettle).

A mason jar with an iced beverage in it sits on a countertop in front of a liquor bottle, a small aluminum can, and a jar with a golden colored syrup.

I'm having something like what's called an Old English, but I don't have any marmalade so I just soaked a bit of orange peel in whisky for a couple of hours.
Can recommend.
