I finally changed my name on Mastodon, and thus, making this post again.
Hi, friends!
Re: #introduction #intro
I love #cats, #writing, #houseplants, #gardening, #books, #RomanceBooks, #QueerBooks, and #StarTrek. 🖖
I'm an author, and I've been published in Uncanny Magazine, Chicks Unravel Time, Chicks Dig Comics, and Outside In Gains a Soul. I read a lot and review books. 📚
I am currently working on my 3rd novel, a monster romance between a plant woman and a botanist. Pitching my first two novels, which are contemporary queer fiction. I write a free-to-subscribe newsletter with book reviews, planty updates, and queer ponderings: http://eepurl.com/bdZrHb
I'm very #queer, specifically #bisexual and #trans masc nonbinary. My pronouns are they/them or he/him. I want to celebrate queer joy and all the other aspects of our lives. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
I live in #Seattle with my partner, 2 cats, and 400+ houseplants. I'm an avid follower of local politics.
You might know me from community building, marketing, or GeekGirlCon. But I'd rather talk about anything other than work.

🌱IMPORTANT PLANT VOTING🌱
There's this Callisia cultivar that is widely available in Mexico, but no one in Mexico tried to register it with the International Cultivar Registration Authority ( @TradescantiaHub).
AND NOW someone asked to register it after it was recently introduced to the US, but it has existed in Mexico for decades. The ISHS decided it would be fairer to choose the name by community vote. And it should clearly have a Mexican name, it deserves that!!!
DO THE RIGHT THING. VOTE FOR QUETZALCOATL. (Or some other cool Mexican name, which could get added to the checkbox list.)
Also share this with people living in and from Mexico!!!!
The deadline is 16th Oct.

My latest research paper has just been published! It covers the whole process of creating and publishing the Tradescantia cultivar checklist, and acts as the official publication of some of the names that hadn't been established yet. This is the conclusion of about four years of work, so I'm really proud that it's finally out there.
You can read it for free (open access) at: https://doi.org/10.21273/HORTSCI18749-25
