@w269 @murena Mieux que quoi ?

Because I wouldn't expect a local council to be the right people to design laptops, right enough. But grApple are literally the last company I'd give money to if I was buying one new, precisely *because* they such an autocracy.

As well as all the reasons @codinghorror explained here back in 2008;

https://blog.codinghorror.com/why-doesnt-anyone-give-a-crap-about-freedom-zero/

... among many, many others, like these;

https://www.fsf.org/campaigns/apple

So who would I give that money to instead?

If I was buying a new laptop, instead of giving money to grApple, I'd probably give it to a more collaborative company, like;

* #Pine64 (@pine64eu)

* #Framework @frameworkcomputer)

* #MNT Research (@mntmn)

* #Purism (@purism)

... or one of the companies listed here;

https://linuxpreloaded.com/

For a laptop that serves the interests of me and mine. Unlike grApple's digital handcuffs, or those of anyone still collaborating with BorgSoft's enshittification of the once-open "PC" (x86).

Who wants to see #GNOME running on an #immutable install of #postmarketOS?

This is just one of the few things we'll be showing off at the pmOS table at #FOSSY, starting tomorrow! Hope to see you there! 🥳

#pdx#FOSSY2025

Photo of a pinebook pro running the GNOME desktop environment, booted on an experimental immutable install of postmarketOS. Firefox is running on the left, with postmarketos.org open. In the middle is the GNOME Settings About app, and on the right is GNOME software ready to install flatpaks.

This is running on a #pine64 Pinebook Pro which is... waaay under-powered.

If you'd like to see this running on something like... say... an Apple M2 MacBook, consider helping me get one 😁
