oh hey mastodon, i hear you friggin nerds like #bicycles, so get ready for a #photodump 🧵 from today's visit to the Cincinnati Museum of Art's exhibit "Cycle Thru! The Art of the Bike". https://www.cincinnatiartmuseum.org/art/exhibitions/cycle-thru-the-art-of-the-bike/
first, below are some 1890s bikes. my favorite of this set is at bottom right.

bikes from the 1890s. my favorite is at the bottom right: i adore the look of the frame, no idea if it'd be practical. it's a step-thru "women's" frame, and it's shape is unique. it's rounded, kind of fluid looking. from below the handlebars the frame dips low, down to just above the pedals, to shape the step-thru. it then swoops back up, but in one contiguous form then rounds out over the back wheel, creating what resembles the top of an S.
