We're hosting our German #OpenDesk and French #LaSuite colleagues at the Dutch Ministry of Interior today to exchange experiences with our #MijnBureau team 🇩🇪🇫🇷

This is in preparation of the official European Digital Infrastructure Consortium (EDIC) launch tomorrow in The Hague. 🍾

The #EDIC will be a consortium of several EU member states to fund, support and build more #opensource EU alternatives together, like the sovereign workspaces replacing Microsoft.

We had EU delegates from NL, Germany, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, and Hungary on stage, with livestream of all participants holding balloons in the background.

Currently listening to a talk by large consultancy Centric about their #opensource sovereign workspace - basically the commercial version of #MijnBureau, #LaSuite and #OpenDesk.

Strongly mixed feelings. Like yeah consultancies have a role, but (having worked for Big Consulting for years) I know that their motives are purely monetary.

Argument principal : si la gouvernance est ouverte et le code libre, tout acteur, y compris commercial, peut ensuite s'emparer du produit et entrer en concurrence avec d'autres acteurs, y compris le producteur initial subventionné.
Intéressant de voir que cela renforce le schisme FSL / BSL vs aides publiques dans les expérimentations de soutenabilité du libre.
