I've been noticing more unhoused people with shopping carts full of belongings in the Merrillville area camping along major roads along US 30 and south to 93rd than I have before in the decades I've lived in Northwest Indiana.
It is an ominous sign of a poor economy and an inability of the current social safety system to keep up.
