@neauoire @rek I’ve been reading posts about your travels aboard PINO as well as Permacomputing principles and have wondered if you’ve ever tried MeshCore or Meshtastic while sailing. I should include @th in this question as well.

It seems like something that would fit nicely into permacomputing and your low bandwidth/limited communication needs. There’s a large community of users in the PNW and we have created a very large mesh here in Boston.

I've been wondering the same.

In the Pacific Northwest we definitely now have meshcore coverage along tons of waterways. We've had people chatting from ferry's all the way up Squamish BC and hear them in downtown Seattle.

I've also been able to have DMs with friends hiking on Orcas Island.

Some results from a week of there being a meshcore repeater on Cougar mountain.

A lot of us can now hear around 80 radios throughout the Seattle / Tacoma region.

The public chat channel is extremely busy at various times throughout the day.

I've been able to DM people in Tacoma and connect to their chat servers all the way from Seattle.

Some routes are extremely stable, meanwhile others are more flaky. It's super exciting!

Testing routes from central Seattle down to Tacoma is shockingly stable.

Testing a route from mobile radio through the cougar mountain repeater to a node in Tacoma and back again.

My handheld has an extremely strong signal reception from Cougar Mt as does the Tacoma node. My uplink to cougar is weak, but seemed to work well enough.
