As someone who doesn't carry physical cash, I've discovered the concept of Paying-it-Forward to be very useful.
I do this when I go to the community coffee shop, which I believe is a non profit. Even a couple of those is less than the cost of a coffee from a chain coffee retailer.

I'm sending big thank you vibes to the random woman at the EV charging station who, upon seeing us struggling to charge our car, offered to switch chargers with us. And then, as our problems continued, used her app to connect our car (and consequently paid our charge). She told us not to worry and pay it forward.

En gisteravond weer een setje goede doelen een bedrag overgemaakt: ik een fijne kerst, anderen hopelijk eten, droge voeten, schuilplaats, goed onderzoek, en zo meer en zo verder.
Turns out - I have an extra ticket for #EuroBSDCon2025 (including the social event). Instead of refunding it, I would like to give it away for free to whoever would like it - ideally to someone around the area of the event who could not make it otherwise (no questions asked).

In a nearby small town there is a small family run restaurant where any person can walk in, take a meal receipt from a board, and the server will without question, cheerfully provide the entire meal for free to the customer.
Regular customers prepay the meals.
This is community spirit. 😀
