If you are a fan of both Star Trek and Doctor Who, then I really, really suggest you check out Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. Both shows have the mix of drama and goofiness of Who, while being an ensemble show like Trek. Despite the fact that they did work pretty closely with the U.S. Air Force, the show overall leans to the left IMO. (Although don’t get me wrong, there’s a LOT of U.S. military propaganda mixed in.)
Anyways, I think they’ve aged well.
