I printed a new battery cage for my #tangara but it still seems unable to reliably read the SD card. I guess that’s it then. :(
I've been holding off on reviewing the #Tangara in order to give the firmware time to mature. They've now released version 2.0, so I figure it's time.
I really want to like this device. I've put a lot of effort into making it work for me. But it doesn't.
First, the good:
* Open source
* Decent sound quality
* Written in Rust
Now, the bad:
* Huge. Bigger than a first gen iPod, and thick
* Capacitive touch wheel was a bad idea for Apple; the Tangara's is much less responsive which makes it cumbersome to use
* Bluetooth doesn't support volume control, which makes it useless in my car
* No way to edit playlists on the device
I could handle the size and shitty touchwheel if all the other problems were fixed. Until they are, it goes in a drawer.
Damn I knew I should have bought a #Tangara before they became unavailable
Is anybody making new, retro PDAs, with LCD screens and styli? Is there a #Tangara of Palm Pilots?
Getting some really good suggestions for punk and punk adjacent bands! I’m going to support some artists tonight and build a playlist from the suggestions - anyone got any more to add? Need to fill up my #Tangara!
Kinda in the mood for some punk / pop punk - need to build a good playlist to toss onto the #Tangara to give it another shakedown.
Whatcha got for me, Fedi? What's your favorite?
Bonus points if it's available on bandcamp.
