I've been holding off on reviewing the #Tangara in order to give the firmware time to mature. They've now released version 2.0, so I figure it's time.

I really want to like this device. I've put a lot of effort into making it work for me. But it doesn't.

First, the good:

* Open source
* Decent sound quality
* Written in Rust

Now, the bad:

* Huge. Bigger than a first gen iPod, and thick
* Capacitive touch wheel was a bad idea for Apple; the Tangara's is much less responsive which makes it cumbersome to use
* Bluetooth doesn't support volume control, which makes it useless in my car
* No way to edit playlists on the device

I could handle the size and shitty touchwheel if all the other problems were fixed. Until they are, it goes in a drawer.
