Just finished our pre-#FediForum Meet & Greet. Give people a space, and they will dive right into Open Social Web discussions! Even if the unconference only starts tomorrow. But that's okay, one thing I love about this community is how much energy and passion it brings.
Some people are reporting that their e-mail invites to our online venue, QiQo, for FediForum have ended up in their spam folders. If you are registered and have not received your personalized e-mail invite, please check your spam folder. Sender is notifications@qiqochat.com.
Meet & Greet in half an hour. If you are registered for FediForum, feel free to stop by, say Hi, ask any questions you might have, and check out your equipment. (But totally optional)
FediForum, the main event, will start in 23 hours. Registration is still open: https://fediforum.org/2026-10/

Also hoping to connect with differently-minded people for constructive conflict.
The social web is losing active users.
We need candid discussions about what’s not working.
@xpub is coming to FediForum to learn what the Open Social Web is all about, meet and connect with like-minded people and run a session (or several). They want to learn more about: As a course, XPUB is all about questioning the tools we use, and research the way they shape our practice, and vice versa. We are participating to FediForum because we want to understand the power dynamics…

Atproto Spaces is the most eagerly awaited new addition to AT Protocol in recent memory. But how does it work and what cool new Open Social Web functionality does it enable?
We are very happy to announce that next week at FediForum, @dholms.at, head of protocol at Bluesky, will tell us all about it in his talk "Introducing Atproto Spaces". Have questions? Bring them! We'll have plenty of Q&A time.
FediForum registration is still open. Join us? It's online: https://fediforum.org/2026-10/
It's the time before #FediForum when I wish I was merely an attendee, not an organizer.
As an attendee, I would run soo many sessions, because there are soo many things I want to discuss and brainstorm with you all, and make progress on.
But it's really important for the (un-?)organizers of an un-conference to not define too much of the agenda, otherwise sooner or later it becomes a regular "everybody listen to me" conference and we have too many of those already.
Maybe I can run 2 sessions?
FediForum, the online unconference for the people who move the Open Social Web forward, is coming up again in a few days. Consider joining your peers in exploring, creating, and collaborating on better ways of interacting online than what the closed platforms give us.
It's going to be fun! 😆
#FediForum will take place on 6 and 7 October. I still don't feel comfortable presenting, but I might get a ticket to listen to other contributors.
Ryan B is coming to FediForum to meet and connect with like-minded people and run a session (or several).
They want to learn more about: private and semi-private groups.

Seeing all these vibe-coded entrants to the Fediverse makes me feel antiquated, but at the same time it's a god damn renaissance injecting fresh blood sweat and tears into the AP scene.
I wonder how ostracised I'll be if I host a fedi forum session about AI and AP
FediForum Fall 2026 starts in four weeks, exactly.
Registrations and proposed topics are coming. Check some of what has been proposed so far on https://fediforum.org/2026-10/
I have the impression the term "Open Social Web" for what we are all working on has won.
Instead of "decentralized social" or other terms that have been floating around over the years.
We've been leaning into it for some years now with #FediForum since I realized that some members of the press had been using it, instead of something more techie.
