Question:

I'm really curious about you, my dear personal Mastodon bubble! Today, I want to learn more about your everyday digital patterns. Therefore pretty please, vote + boost:

Which digital note taking app did you use the most, during the last 30 days?

@Lambo Joplin for most things here, especially if I value that information's access across systems, desktop and mobile.

Org-mode for project-specific information that stays put, like typical work notes.

Nextcloud Notes (and clients for it) for small notes.

Nextcloud Collectives for bigger collections of information "personal wiki".

@Lambo I’ve been on TiddlyWiki https://tiddlywiki.com/ to maintain notes for projects (work and home) for coming up on two decades. FWIW I am thinking of migrating to something org-mode based.

@Lambo @ralf_weinert Notebooks www.notebooksapp.com for ages now. No encapsulated proprietary database bullshit, books are local or iCloud / Dropbox / WebDAV folders, every file is just a file in these folders and can be read and edited on every platform. Writes mainly .md but also .txt, .rtf, renders PDFs, reads most doc and media formats supported by the OS. Mac and iOS only, no subscription, great support, European product (Austria).

@Lambo I take notes in Emacs on my computers and in Orgzly on my phone. Part of my note files are synchronized between the phone and the computers, the full set of files is synchronized between the two computers. The notes are in org-mode format.

@Lambo AnyType, recent versions are improving in leaps and bounds https://anytype.io. Also worth keeping an eye on Zettlr and Tangent if you're a fan of Obsidian but want open source. Having said that, Obsidian is outstanding (one of the only proprietary tools I use) so I mostly use it and AnyType (and Zotero) depending on purpose.

@Lambo TickTick. It looks like a Todo app, but it is much, much more.

It is a real second brain and allows you to take notes, organize them, tag them, link them seamlessly with a rock-solid app available on all platforms.

GNU #Emacs and its org-mode - that integrates with so much in Emacs. Well everything.

I take structured notes with attachments, TODOs, calendar events.

I use Emacs to build and maintain websites, including all those integrated notes, TODOs, drafts, planning, and events for my calendar.

Um, what else? ... integration with email through MU4E, literate programming, writing, and more.

In Emacs, everything I fancied doing has always been possible.

@lukask @Lambo @nicolai

I also use Zotero and Better Notes plugin but I sync it to Obsidian.

It enables this:
You can use markdown in Zotero, and if you cite something, you create a bibliographic reference.

With Better Notes' sync feature, you set up a folder to sync to, in your Obsidian fault. And then you have a sync control to choose which notes to sync and when.

I also have Zotero integration plugin in Obsidian, clicking a reference brings you back to Zotero, which I find very neat.
