so last week, but for my bag, shoes and compression bra, everything i was wearing i made in these 2 cancer-free LongCOVID-free years.
and one of the radiologists noticed.
when she asked me were i bought my palazzo culottes ―which i made in such a way it looks like a Dior New Look skirt―, and i told her i made it, she didn't even lose a bit:
i had no idea you were a fashion designer.
FAM: almost burst out in ugly sobs, and she wasn’t even pancaking my boob on the mammo machine…
but only rich girls get to be designers. we working class drones, on the other had, are meant to the sweatshops… and i promised mami i wouldn't end in one.

heck, i owe to seeing all my professional experience as an educator, curriculum developer and technical writer.
i have always had a love-hate relationship with Simplicity pattern instructions i often told my employers, if i can make is easy to LOOK at as a Simplicity sewing pattern but write it and illustrate it better, then i’ve done my job.
which is why i can look at an app or even a codebase and go, yup, none of the dev(s) are a designer or have any arts skills… 🧵…

parasitic, corruptocratic nepobabies with an end goal of hoarding all the means of production want you to believe The Arts are beneath Technology, Maths, Sciences and that only engineers (of the unis they use launder their wealth) are the true Creators in this capitalists hellscape they get to control…
but nothing and i mean NOTHING is farther from the truth.
because women like Annie Easley are real and we owe it to our mothers and our aunties and nanas and their nanas to reclaim the true value, the true power of their work, expertise and wisdom.
because we owe it to ourselves to reclaim the value and power of our work, expertise and wisdom.
because there is great DIGNITY in making our own clothes, our own software. because Arts, Crafts, Tech and Mech are expressions of our Humanity…
everything i know about tech i owe it to the skills i learned from "women’s work": sewing, patchwork, embroidery, beading.
let’s make sure the chitlins learn about how with women’s work there is no #NASA
