Are there open alternatives to #komoot for finding and publishing curated #hiking and #cycling trails?
After the buyout of this great community, it would be great to find a resilient solution where the data and ratings are owned by the public.
Ideally, it should be decentralised and federating, but that's just additional thoughts from a discussion at #FediDay.

I've used Alltrails for years. But recently started using #CoMaps. Ostensibly it is for car travel...but stay with me, here: The base map data is #OpenStreetMap #OSM and is the underlying base map for Alltrails. You can actually navigate using the trails, roads, and sidewalks on foot. I used it, in ernest, recently on a 6-day hike in Ireland. Worked great! In some ways better (I can't compare to #Komoot, as I've never used it.). It is #opensource and free ($) with android/iphone and desktop apps.
@alnetloc I love CoMaps and use it a lot. It's perfect if I already have a GPX file.
I'm missing the social network part to find, rate and publicly share trails.
Komoot has a global search of user-uploaded hikes, ratings and photos of highlights along the path.
