@TheBreadmonkey Streeting doesn't know his arse from his elbow. He must have some rich donors hand up his arse, as he has never had an original or competent thought since he was elected.
You make the world a brighter place and are a lovely human being. You have so many people who think you are an awesome worthy human. Don't let some ignorant Muppet take that away.
Sorry, you cannot view this.
It may have been deleted, or you may not have permission to see it.
@TheBreadmonkey Wes Streeting is a wilfully ignorant prick.
We should start an ocean-spanning Useless Eaters Club.
@TheBreadmonkey
I think we all feel like this sometimes. Realising that we are not broken, but just different, is such a massive thing and makes such a huge difference to our lives and self esteem. It gives us access to so much. Community, help, advice and enlightenment.
But when the outside world refuses to see, or acts as if we are frauds, or just making it up. It makes it so hard. The trick is to remember that they don't know squat. They were the one's who put us into the broken box, whether they knew it, or not. Difference is rarely understood, or wanted by them and will always put a target on our backs. And it's all too easy for them to use that for their own ends.
Basically fuck that and fuck them. Together we are stronger. And the only ones who will ever truly understand.
@TheBreadmonkey Good morning. ☀️ You good? You earn replies like all these by being worthy of them.
@TheBreadmonkey AuDHD late dx here too.
Idk if you're looking for sympathy, solutions, or just needing to vent, so stop reading here if you don't want advice!
I wonder if it would help to remind yourself that the people commenting that you're awesome are actually more qualified to judge than some jerk in the gov. Or to remind yourself that all of our opinions are meaningless and have nothing to do with you. But you can choose whose words to play on repeat in your head.
@TheBreadmonkey it's easier to let the negative words run on loop. Requires no effort because we've been doing it all our life. Repeating "So and So thinks I'm great" every time we think "I am broken" requires effort but eventually we'll rewrite those patterns and the mean voice will quiet and eventually go away.
Sorry you're having a rough go. ♥️
@TheBreadmonkey Nailed it. My experience mirrors yours; years being told I have anxiety and depression, finally getting a diagnosis and understanding myself, then this. I'm not just sad, I am raging.
@TheBreadmonkey
Almost everyone worthwhile in my life is neurodivergent, trans, or both.
@TheBreadmonkey as Franti put it "all the freaky people make the beauty of the world" do you brother. As one neuro-divergent to another, be fucking awesome brother.
@TheBreadmonkey I never know what I'm going to get from 'Mastodon Roulette' when I check in each morning, but I always know there'll be a handful of posts from you that make me chuckle or even laugh out loud.
You're a star. A lyrical, creative genius. Your perspectives on life are inspiring. And this whole mastodon experience would be very different if I didn't 'know' you.
All this to say: you're perfect as you are. Also: fuck them.
@TheBreadmonkey Fuck those fucking fuckers, Ben. They’re craven fucking liars.
@TheBreadmonkey I'm on a similar path (or maybe actually I'm just workshy and lazy) - and I would love to access that relief...
ANYWAY what normies* think is that no one really wants to work. Everyone finds some things boring and annoying to do. Everyone finds a flickering light annoying. We're all different yada yada you just need to work on your willpower BUT what they don't understand is when the willpower-button/juice doesn't bloody work!
*this might still include me
@TheBreadmonkey I’ve only recently followed you. And since doing so, you frequently light up my day.
Big picture, we’ve built a culture that is poisoning itself. It’s gonna take a while for it to begin to admit it and it will lash out in anger and stupidity much more before it does.
In the meantime, please keep being you 💚
@TheBreadmonkey The "hugely divisive" "controversial professor" klaxon keeps sounding for some reason... https://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/news/controversial-professor-to-investigate-overdiagnosis-of-mental-health-and-neurodivergence-for-labour
Cass 2.0? Or 3.o, given we are waiting for more anti-trans hit jobs.
Typical of this and the previous governmens to subcontract repressive policies to handpicked groups that they can pass off as independent and claim merely to be following advice.
@iaruffell @TheBreadmonkey This may be wishful thinking, but I have a feeling the Terrible People will ultimately come to regret picking on folk who are famously known for their highly developed sense of fair play and justice. And who also happen in some cases to be hardcore technomancers responsible for key bits of the cyber wizardry underpinning our world...
@TheBreadmonkey It's amazing how many arseholes , who couldn't apply an elastoplast, are "experts" on neurological disorders. Docs have diagnosed you and they know what they are talking about, the rest couldn't find their own arses with both hands and a map, (they're constantly talking out of it and now think it's their mouth).
You're weird and wonderful and lots of fun, which is why thousands of us follow you.
@TheBreadmonkey It's always horrific being today's main character in UK politics. So often it feels like the subjects and the objects of politics are totally separate groups, the sort of problem that democracy was meant to fix.
Whatever the papers say or don't, you are sitting there inside your own self and plenty of people on here and elsewhere think that's pretty good.
(I've been thinking about diagnosis or not, I'm currently just being weird on an unofficial basis only)
AuDHD, sadness, UkPol
Fuck that guy.
He's wrong.
Also, from this side of the globe, so who knows what you're hiding IRL... but anyway, from here you seem like a good, decent, & honest bloke. Wired up a bit differently, sure, *but not wrongly* ❌ More interestingly? ✅
@TheBreadmonkey During the Tory party conference, some shadow twat made comments about Motability cars and ADHD. There's a really interesting report on this programme from 08:00 on this. From 11:33 they talk about the actual stats and take apart the same bollox Streeting was spouting: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0m8l4c2?partner=uk.co.bbc&origin=share-mobile
Very enlightening.
@TheBreadmonkey Thank you for speaking out. There are lots of people in similar situations and this is partly the issue. How many people have been diagnosed with depression, etc for years, but actually have AuDHD? Yet, diagnosis is difficult with waiting lists for assessment many years long, if the service exists at all. And diagnosis does not equal unemployment and sickness benefits if employers are supportive - target employers not those affected.
@TheBreadmonkey Hi, fellow AuDHD here. You're not broken. You have a brain that works differently than the system we're forced to live in can adequately deal with. (Or is willing to, because accommodations are for them, not for us, at least not long-term.)
I'm so sorry that you're dealing with invalidation both personally and in a wider social sphere. I know it's frustrating and more than that, I know how much it hurts.
If I can gently suggest trying to find AuDHD groups to touch base with once in a while, it might help you feel less mentally isolated (because that's the aim, I think - to make us feel like what we have isn't real and to burn ourselves out trying to fit into a mould that will break us).
I know I can't do anything about the wider social issue, or about the people in your personal life that are, to be blunt, rude as fuck about your lived experience... But I can extend a "hey, you're not alone in this, your diagnosis and needs are valid, and while we may never be friends, I'd like to be friendly with you" hand.
Again, I'm so sorry you're dealing with this with such a new diagnosis. If it were 20 years on, it'd be a lot easier (I can say this from personal experience), but since you're still probably unraveling the "what's me, what's autism, what's ADHD" at times, you're getting a one-two punch at a really hard time.
@TheBreadmonkey You and me and our AuDHD sibs everywhere, we’re slices of fried gold, brother. 🫂
Shut-up-Wesley isn’t a worth a fart. 💨
You know what you know. It’s been your truth all this time, however buried it may have been at times. No one can take that away from you.
And if others can’t see it, that’s theirs. 💛
@TheBreadmonkey Fuck them, you don't need them. Scientists and doctors around the world have agreed on that diagnosis, and I don't know why this grifting cockwomble of a secretary should get to dictate how you feel.
Are you wired weird? You and me both, brother (although I'm probably "just" ADHD). But thanks to that diagnosis, we know where to look, whom to talk to in the wide world for advice, for understanding. We can make life good *for ourselves.*
@TheBreadmonkey Ben, you are the sun that shines.
You are who you fought so hard to find. Do not lose that again because some other idiot is talking about something they know nothing about - You.
@TheBreadmonkey And maybe you are just right as you are. 💐
I've always been the odd one, but other people's attitudes to our wonderfully different selves is just chaff blowing in the wind.
We are an important leavening in the bread of life. ✨
And all politician, by definition, suck.
