@thomasfuchs Just to check I've understood: one of the defining features that makes a language "high-level" is that its specification makes no reference to how many bits the CPU registers have, right?

Frederico Faggin was more like: This opcode may seem unimplemented. In fact, it's just a little bit unconventional or unfamiliar.
Those opcodes were *so* useful for fast and compact Z80 code.
We did dirty tricks with the 68k as well 😂
