John Naughton argues that we are currently experiencing the 'morbid symptoms' of a Gramscian interregnum; the period Antonio Gramsci described between the collapse of the old order and the (as yet delayed) birth of the new.
I've always had a lot of time for Gramsci's ideas (indeed when a functioning academic I was sometimes referred to as a neo-Gramscian) & think that Naughton is right on the button with this analysis.
