From my past experience with the stuff, make sure you dispose of it directly rather than, say, put it on your front passenger seat where a bit might dribble out of the hose and embed unremovable glue in your seat-cushion, making it appear someone had a gastronomical event in your car… 😑

That's good to hear! My current car has no spare, just a compressor and a can of tire goo.
I used to have one of the aerosol cans in my roadside kit, but the only flat I had in that time was a sidewall blowout, so not helpful.

@neil We had to think a few times when we realised the car we bought a couple of years back had no spare but instead done of that gunk and a pump where the spare usually is. We wondered if this was done aspect of needed life we'd better get used to.
(Answering my own question, my phone autocorrected gunk to Gucci. Is that meaningful?)
But glad to know it worked in real life.

@neil if you need a replacement can, they're currently in the middle of Lidl :)

@neil it's very cool stuff in that sort of situation, but the person at the tyre place once you limp there will not thank you - apparently it's horrible stuff to try and get off the wheel 🙂

@neil We tried using it on a tire puncture a couple of years back. Learnt that it only works on tread punctures, not punctures in the wall (thanks Yorkshire stone and Malham Cove).

As it was still fairly fresh the mobile tyre guy was able to fairly quickly remove the remaining gunk from the metal part of the wheel.

@neil I had a similar “can of compressed gunk” for my bicycle. I got it as a freebie and I carried it around for years in the bottom of my pannier.
I did one day get a puncture and felt too lazy to do a roadside patch so I used the can. It worked perfectly fine, and intact in fact I kept using that tire and inner tube for a good while longer before I eventually replaced them. It did make a bit of a mess, but that’s less of a big deal on a bicycle.

@neil I have no real experience here, but my dad was warned against using them - many types of puncture can be trivially repaired, but the gunk leaves the tyre unusable / unrepairable, so you're locked in for a full replacement.

It sounds reasonable, but I've always wondered if this is actually true...
