@markwyner state nullification for the win
@markwyner The keywords here are "not open to the public." This still means that ICE thugs are going to open that public door and sit in that public waiting room and are going to acost whoever they decide in the big waiting room of the DMV.
@Infoseepage there is no public space there. It’s a drive-through garage with no walkthrough for anyone. It’s not open to the public, unless they’re in a car. And if they’re in a car, they can’t stop and get out.
Moreover, our governor, senators, and mayors in proximity to PDX proper are fighting the good fight. So it’s not just a meaningless flyer.
@markwyner That's something at least. Too many places don't have sanctuary laws and too often those that do have them in a feel good way which doesn't offer meaningful protection to undocumented people and in many cases imo can do them harm.
I can't help but notice the URL though 🫣
www.doj.state.or.us/oregon-department-of-justice
Untied States, Oregon, State, Department of Justice, Website, Oregon Department of Justice
Feels like that could've been a teensy bit less unwieldy…
@zbrown well, the departments were already named, right? So there are connotations, but unrelated.
@markwyner huh? I think you've missed what I said perhaps
The URL is needlessly verbose, arguably it could have been as simple as doj.or.us, or justice.or.us to avoid an acronym.
@zbrown ah, yes. My bad. And I agree.
@markwyner Hooray for Oregon. Wish my state had such balls.
@markwyner Good to know! Thanks for passing this on! ❤️
Here's the link and phone number printed at the bottom of the flyer (Oregon DOJ):
