I think we may need a JSON or even a JSON-LD 😜 data structure that unifies a bunch of fediverse related information. And that data may even be federated around.
With regards to parsing markdown, the delightful commons initiative, with the fediverse curated lists, face the same issue that markdown isn't a good data storage format. Delightful markdown and website should be output formats, driven by a data provider backend. Might create another Fedi Idea issue.
