I love listening to talk radio. It's like taking all the people with wild opinions on X/Twitter, but they are bold enough announce it on national radio to a much larger audience.

I just heard someone call into a show and tell everyone that vegans are making meat production worse because their lack of support for meat consumption means meat producers don't need to care about the quality.

@matt

Where are all these carnists of conscience who care so much about the conditions of death but not at all that the death is completely unnecessary and cruel?

@matt @aqunt My all time favourite was an elderly gentleman calling in to share his opinion on kickbikes. He was strongly in favour of them and got increasingly agitated by his own words, practically shouting in the end that the bicycle mafia killed kickbikes in order to sell overly complicated junk that needs constant maintenance.

Still no idea what prompted any part of his rant.

When mental hospitals were lunatic asylums in the 18th century, the general public used to go there for entertainment, much as you might go to see a show. Nice little earner for the staff. People who phone into talk radio are similar, except they're self-selecting, and it makes money for the station through advertising revenue.

@matt it's absolutely not funny, but the absurdity of it made me burst out laughing.

@kathimmel It's wild that person cares so much about vegans and they've managed to convince themselves that people who don't eat meat have a negative effect on meat quality, to presumably justify their opinion. THEN they care so much about this non-issue that they've called into a radio show to voice that opinion.

@matt honestly, the pretzel logic is painful.

@matt that is the most stupidest thing I’ve heard all day so much so I’d like to hear their rebuttal just for the laughs πŸ˜‚
