@jeffjarvis This is why large peaceful protests are important as they create community and hope about change
@jeffjarvis “Ignorance is strength”
They're having their Vichy Era.
A visual of fascism. Johnson, the one who called #NoKings a hate rally, upstaging (or trying to) 7 million people who came together for democracy.
@jeffjarvis control of news media by fear via threats, coercion, blame, disparagement and or direct action is one of the hallmarks of fascism unfortunately. It's key to control the narrative if you are an authoritarian dictator and it keeps people fixated on your position of power if the news always shows you in a favourable light
@jeffjarvis What's weird about our algorithmic age is that there's no such thing as a "headline" anymore. At least not one we all commonly see. My NYT homepage is different than yours. In fact, my homepage is different every time I open it. Likely each article has multiple headlines being served in A/B experiments.
All just helps them to bury and distort the news to serve their own narrative, of course. Your main point still stands ... Biggest protests in decades, and they are effectively ignored.
Shameful. The #NYTimes has always been cowardly and fascist enablers.
@jeffjarvis
Just like tagesschau.de in Germany, where news organizations *really* should know better.
@jeffjarvis Fuck the #NYT and all the rest of the #Nazi #fellaters. Biz-as-usual for them as they will continue to spew this garbage after the nightmare ends. Once sanity returns, our job is to make sure they go bankrupt for their lies, all of them. #GetFucked #NYT.
@jeffjarvis The world is in crisis, and it's equally problematic from France
Compare/contest with The Guardian. This is journalism.
What is striking is the complete lack of protesters opposing No Kings demonstrations, even when demonstration sites/times were public information.
They show up when they can wear body armor, masks and guns. But face-to-face with neighbors as civilians... nah.
@jeffjarvis lots of coverage in German and Dutch Media though.
As if us media does not want to report.
