🕯On 2 August 1944, around 4,300 Roma and Sinti were murdered in Auschwitz-Birkenau, ending of the so-called ‘Gypsy family camp’.

This was part of the Roma Holocaust, which took over 500,000 lives.

Today we honour the memory of victims & stand against prejudice of Romani people.

👨🏼‍🏫With the Council of Europe, we're working to bring Roma Holocaust history in school curricula across Europe, so young people can grow up embracing inclusion.

@jeffjarvis and the amount of people who publish their articles decrying the #nazi #fascist take over of the US govt and the erosion of democracy itself in #substack is staggering.

I suspect mostly mental laziness and self-absorbed lackadaisical inertia from them. The average reply to the query of why they publish that in SUBSTACK of all places is "oh, I am happy with their services".

So I started discounting a lot of their ideas, given the mentality they display.

Substack promoted a literal nazi propaganda pub with push notifications to random people.

Their response? Not “sorry we host Nazis.” It was “sorry for the technology glitch.”

Substack said that the alert was issued by mistake. “We discovered an error that caused some people to receive push notifications they should never have received,” a spokesperson told User Mag. “In some cases, these notifications were extremely offensive or disturbing. This was a serious error, and we apologize for the distress it caused. We have taken the relevant system offline, diagnosed the issue, and are making changes to ensure it doesn't happen again.”

…The debate over whether the #war in #Gaza constitutes #genocide has also played out at the #ICJ, where #SouthAfrica has brought a genocide case against #Israel. The court has yet to rule on the matter.

…Genocide has a specific definition in #InternationalLaw: particular acts carried out with intent to destroy a group in whole or in part. The accusation hits a painful nerve for Israel, a state founded after #Nazi Germany’s attempt to exterminate European Jewry.

Wenn die Hamas den roten Winkel benutzt, um israelische Panzer zu markieren, dann ist das Antisemitismus.

Wenn in Deutschland ein roter Winkel auf die Häuser von Jüd:Innen oder Synagogen gesprüht, beschmiert, oder sonstig markiert wird, dann ist das Antisemitismus.

Wenn in Deutschland irgendwo der rote Winkel besprüht oder präsentiert wird, ist dessen Interpretation noch zu klären.

Wenn das Volk Palästinas im Wissen des roten Dreiecks in ihrer eigenen Flagge, sowie dem Symbol der Steinschleuder, das rote Dreieck benutzen, im Anbetracht der angeeigneten Bedeutung der deutschen Antifaschist:Innen, um sich über ihr Leid und über ihren Widerstand zu vereinen, und damit gezielt die von der Hamas wieder auferlegte antisemitische Bedeutung entreißen, dann ist das kein Antisemitismus.


Was wir aus der Geschichte des roten Keil, dann roten Winkel, und nun roten Dreiecks lernen ist das die Bedeutung eines Symbols zu belieben verändert werden kann, um entweder Hass oder Hoffnung auszudrücken, manchmal beides gleichzeitig. Es benötigt gesellschaftliche Macht, Aufklärung und Erinnerungsarbeit um ein Symbol nicht zur Dogwhistle verkommen oder angeeignet werden zu lassen.

Die Stadtverwaltung #krefeld hat jugendlichen Aktivisten untersagt, eine mit #Nazi Schmierereien verunstaltete Treppe mit #Regenbogen farben zu übersprühen. Dort befürchtet man, dass jene Täter, die die Treppe mit Reichsfarben besprüht hat provoziert. 🤬🤯🤢

1. I cringe a bit sharing Ynet, but I dont see this anywhere else yet. Important to be aware that it's a right-wing rag if you dont follow Jewish media outlets.
2. This story is why you see some Israel-critical Jews squint at gentile anti-Israel rhetoric and hesitate to take it at face value. Particularly when its presented alongside clearly fucked up stuff.
