European Commission
@EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu  ·  activity timestamp last week

We have made Microsoft’s commitments on Teams legally binding under EU antitrust rules.

Microsoft will unbundle Teams at lower prices, boost interoperability and data portability.

This means more choice for users, and fair competition ensured in Europe.

@EUCommission Microsoft won’t even agree to be bound by data privacy laws, and (they say) can be compelled by US courts to reveal the data of foreign governments. How stupid is it to keep using their services?

@EUCommission

no it does not. it means you let a data stealing co still steal EU data sending them through US servers and out of reach of EU law. the US is just like China now. NO respect for other people's data - or legislation. NO DATA OUT OF EU

@EUCommission why do you promote Microsoft products in your posts? This is not fair towards competitors. Shame on you.

@EUCommission Would it not be better to promote similar open-source apps, which respect users' privacy? Freedom of choice is for me one of the most important values in EU. Supporting one big corporation, officially spying their users and trading their data (and coming from outside of EU) is not what I expect from the Commission.

@EUCommission unbundling, now that they secured their massive market share through those practices seems quite pointless.

Let them pay like hell, so that their profits made from those unfair practices are dried up and they don't just end up, calculating those penalties as expenses as part of their strategy.

Then put all this money into #OpenSource#EuropeanAlternatives

@EUCommission There is no teams for linux. There was teams for linux. Microsoft claimed a lot that they are so pro-open source and FLOSS. And then killed teams for linux.
And you believe that microsoft will unbundle teams etc?
Gullible Commission I say.

Why painting their greed with a "fair" (out)look if IT's everything but fair #software, #opensource or #FOSS?

You
@EUCommission could lead by example and recommend @jitsimeetinstances , but promoting their #surveillancecapitalism solutions might be a boomerang. Don't you think?

Btw. Mugshot of #BillGates the 3rd on a bluescreen with #IBM PC5150 standing on shoulders of #DigitalResearch is a #vector #illustration made with #Inkscape, not #Adobe#Illustrator

@EUCommission - the EU is still promoting the use of Microsoft? Even as they embed more ways of tracking and profiting off their users?
Overall, the EU is seen as protecting users’ privacy and security online, but then it’s seen doing stuff like this.

"Paid attention"

What about #buyeuropean #buyfromeu #buyfoss?

With our big economy we should support and focus on European solutions.

European companies don't export data and underlay European law.
That are jobs, taxes from companies and workers remaining in Europe.

@EUCommission

"The commitments offered by Microsoft will remain in force for seven years"

So, they already plan to revert/modify the stuff as soon as they can.
I wish that someone in charge would read the fineprint once in a while.

And i'm pretty sure, knowing Microsoft, they will bend the selfproclaimed commitments so drastically that you get into "WTF" mode.
They are not known to follow the regulations by the book.

EU: you cannot win the game unless you stop playing.

@EUCommission Good move, but there is still need to do more to ensure fair competition, including stricter enforcement of antitrust rules.

PS You should also prioritize European companies in procurement for EU institutions. It will be good for data security, EU's tech sovereignty and European tech ecosystem.
