I'm not any kind of creator type, and the discord would just get muted and put in a folder, but something more passive would be nice.
This is a great idea and I hope it succeeds. Solidarity.
Hello 馃憢
I might have about 90% of this built for you already.
Check out https://emissary.dev - it鈥檚 a native Fediverse server + distributed search engine where you can make your own kinds of content and templates.
https://bandwagon.fm is the first Emissary app, and I鈥檝e planned to add more later this year. And, I鈥檝e just rolled out online payments, which should help a lot.
I鈥檝e joined your discord, and would d love to work with you to build a distributed art site.
Hey Lutin, thanks for the heads up. This is exactly what Emissary is for. I鈥檒l try contacting the community to see if I can help.
The thing we're working on would allow for cryptocurrency-accepting creators to exist in the ecosystem freely, but I don't plan on writing the software that allows that to happen, or helping anyone do it either.
How will you process payments, then? Is there another way?
Which is why virus authors often specifically deploy monero miners on their victims' systems. If more services accept monero, the incentives for ransomware and stealth miners increase significantly.
I think there are better solutions to the social problem of payment processors letting themselves be bullied by christofascists
When you have a centralized site, payment processors judge you by the content across the site. That is, if you have ANY NSFW on your site, you end up having to use a nsfw processor for ALL of your content, which is kind of a non-starter for sfw creators.
By decentralizing payments such that only individual, tiny sites hook up with nsfw payment processors, and by further making it so each of those individual sites has THEIR OWN relationship with a payment processor, you make it so instead of taking down a whole platform, the best an organization like those Australian TERFs can do is play whack-a-mole with a bunch of tiny sites, and make individual requests to a number of different payment processors related to a bunch of different accounts... and no one else is affected in the process.
@Kiloku@burnthis.town @zkat@toot.cat this... literally what are you doing? I'm not joining discord to bikeshed about some "decentralized" alternative to global payment processing lol
