@farah It wasn't sudden but it was looming.I had cancer when I was 17 years old, when I was diagnosed they gave me a week to live and told my mom to go ahead and start planning the funeral. They went ahead and did surgery and chemotherapy anyway, and a couple of times in the first few weeks in the ICU I almost died, but I came out of it and was in remission within two years, and certified cancer-free a few years after that.

I have some issues and disabilities stemming from it to this day: type 2 diabetes, chronic back and leg pain, scarring in one lung so severe that it doesn't really work so I have breathing issues, and gastro issues meaning I can't eat certain foods anymore that I loved as a teenager.

But I came through it and I'm not really afraid of death anymore. I don't want to die, I've never had a suicidal episode, but when my time comes I'm at peace with it, as I've already lived a life I wasn't supposed to.

And the thing about Web 2.0 and Web3 is that they're marketing speak. They're designed to give you the impression that the internet is versioned, that prior ways of building and connecting are obsolete, surpassed by subscription services, then blockchain ledgers, then agentic LLM chatbots, and whatever cash cow comes next. But the cultural structures that they dismiss as "Web 1.0" are continuous; they're still with us; we continue to build and congregate those ways; they still grow and evolve.

Other people talk as though you couldn't really build on the internet prior to Web 2.0, but it's almost the opposite. The "here comes everybody" effect of Web 2.0 means that there are far more people online today who don't know how to build web pages or apps, because nearly everyone online during Web 1.0 was learning to build in one capacity or another, even if they were just setting up macros for their IRC client or copying someone's "under construction" animation for their own web page.

Some people seem to think that Web 2.0 was when the internet suddenly became social. The internet was always social, though; social connection is its core functionality. Web 2.0 is the threshold at which companies stepped in to facilitate and monetize those connections. That made it possible to socialize online without learning the intricacies of navigating the web, which opened up online socialization (as well as exploitation of personal data) to a much broader spectrum of people.

The LLM would have to be trained in such a way that each token keeps a reference to which source documents are being used as a reference, and in which proportions. When said token is used to generate a response, it would then be able to compare it with the source documents, determine how much of a contribution did each document provide to the response, and credit each document above a given threshold.
