All of a sudden we got SoftVoice and Mac voices for SAPI5. This comes after already having Echo, Prose 2000, Smooth Talker, and Bestspeech for SAPI5. Looks like the synthesizer explosion has spilled over into SAPI land.

@TheBreadmonkey OH MAN BEN
I only started watching this last night S1E1
#strangenewWorlds love this 😂
@mattblaze Everyone’s worried the regime will alter election rules. I’m not sure why this suddenly is an emergency. All the regime needs to do is refuse to respect the results, a strategy for which the usual suspects have been laying the groundwork for decades. The whole “democracy is tyranny” trope has been coming out of the [Slavery] Foundation long before the regime came to power.
@LabSpokane The midterms are about congress (and various state and local offices). There’s fortunately no modern history of either branch of congress failing to recognize election outcomes and seating actual certified winners. That could change, but it’s not something that there’s any reason to believe will happen this year.
@EricBono I got it off craigslist when I was living in Oakland briefly! I love it
@kirk Even more Brilliant!
@davidgerard @mxchara I liked HPMOR 😔
Please, give me something with more substance to read. 🙏
Google's brilliant "lay off all the senior people with taste and experience" plan is going swimmingly.
As a Tolkien nerd, I certainly am not free from sin when it came to growing up with my head buried in genre fiction.
And I think that's why the Less Wrong crowd annoy me so much? Because I was able to say even as a kid "oh this is Tolkien talking about the duty to look after refugees and reject oppressors, this is allegory, it's not a guidebook to another world that actually exists"; and if I could say that, then fucking so could they.
@passenger @mxchara i will give yud one dot of credit, he introduced me to Worm which is still my favourite novel thirteen years later
for all its ridiculous and glaring defects
they tried claiming it as rationalist fic too, even as a major theme is parasites making people's rationality not work
Look this is absolutely not reflective of them as modes of transportations but Car Songs >>> Bike Songs.
I'm not saying there AREN'T great Bike Songs but the scale comes into it just overwhelmingly. For every Bicycle by Queen that you could argue is as good as both Baby Driver and Fun Fun Fun combined, there's still an entire Ford Econoline and another entire Fast Car both standing up to it singlehandedly.
I'm pretty sure the rough order goes:
Train Songs / Car Songs
>
Bus Songs
>
Bike Songs
.
And then Ship Songs leagues beyond that, and Walking Songs just blows them all out of the water. RIP to the rest we've just been walking and singing about it for so much longer.
(Horse Songs I don't know enough to place. Stagecoach Songs are likewise.. somewhere.)
Telling everybody we just got the Nobel Prize

This is better than ever single icon has the same color schema and is impossible to differentiate from any other icon... But it's not _good_. <3

You can define "nutrition bar" however you'd like.
For me, I'd call protein bars, meal replacement bars, and energy bars "nutrition bars".
I would say that candy bars, gold bars, bars of soap and cocktail bars are not nutrition bars.
If you can't answer this question without an exact definition, that's ok.
@evan every morning I eat a practice test for the bar exam, but since that's not the real thing I voted for over a quarter ago
Was there quantum physics in the Sequences? My brain has erased the memory of it.
I was thinking of his self-invented field called Timeless Physics, which stands out for a few reasons: it's nonsense, there's no actual physics there, it's obviously back-constructed to justify certain specific positions he already holds, and it's very angry about certain common accountancy practises.
I think the latter is a new and novel flaw? I'm not aware of anyone else having attempted to invent scientific fields in order to get back at accountants for their ways of working.
@passenger @mxchara there was! he got basic shit wrong and actual physicists realised he was an idiot
the point was to demonstrate that because all subatomic particles of a given type are indistinguishable, therefore a copy of you is also you. this is necessary for you to accept that the computer emulation of you is actually you living forever.
Thunderbay 15870
Lakehead 15302
The Lakehead 8377
...et à chaque élection je pense à ça.
@TorrentialRains Oui, ça décrit bien la Gauche française.
seen in NYC
#ALT4you A wall in a street with three big posters. Poster in the middle shows a guillotine with text : Historically speaking France MADE it trickle DOWN.
@passenger @davidgerard I guess being socialized via Cosmos and David Suzuki was the better option =p I mean...okay, I get it, people can get their inspiration from "genre" fiction even though it's held in low general regard, but there's a certain duty to critically appraising one's influences!
As a Tolkien nerd, I certainly am not free from sin when it came to growing up with my head buried in genre fiction.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Costas_array#Numerical_representation
When interpreted as binary matrices, these arrays of numbers have the property that, since each row and column has the constraint that it only has one point oasolete
A Welch–Costas array, or just Welch array, is a Costas array generated using the following method, first discovered by Edgar Gilbert in 1965 and rediscovered in 1982 by Lloyd R. Welch.
NSA has been playing at top form with this whole fiasco like 40 years in the making.
i am absolutely just deeply impressed with the confidence you must have to wield in controlling information about user information about "the start of the art" float first ECC (1982, curve25519 ,etc) and lthen lattice (like 2008-today) as new key sharing or distribution modes. ECDH does in fact do work very efficiently.
now ECC and lattices are all you can use to be safe to any degree?
