Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words.... and in this case, this Private Eye cartoon (from Wilbur) sums up a lot of the commentary on Mastodon about climate change & the myopia of our political class.

@hipsterelectron seems a bit too good to be true, no? like, a computer just doing exactly what you tell it to do, what's the catch?
@alina the day my laptop can generate more cryptographically secure random 😁 than me i will turn off my phone and walk into the sea
@jpm I have tweaked some of the filament settings, I suspect going slightly higher than Prusa's default temperature was a mistake. Also it seems to be settling a little by turning on the dryer to drop moisture a bit. Not where it needs to be though, so will do more tuning. Drop temp, check speeds etc. I also have been meaning to do the pressure advance because I've tweaked that a little but it's still not where I want it to be at corners.
@abstractcode if only you could just push button make object come out
Françoise Combes explains why, even as AI accelerates discovery and SpaceX dominates the skies, the real battle for our future is being fought in underfunded European labs.
Ho i pannelli. Riutilizzo, autoproduco tutto ciò che posso e insegno a mia figlia a farlo.
Sono modi per me per sedare un po' l'ansia.

💸💸 Harvest price hike hits business with 1500% increase in bills
「 Harvest was acquired by the Italian tech company Bending Spoons in 2025, and changed its pricing structure the following year.
Many businesses who pay annually are only now finding out about the increase, as their payment is now coming up for renewal 」
When I was a kid I read Ionescu's play Rhinoceros, where the inhabitants of a small French town turn one by one into a herd of wild, rampaging rhinoceroses. I was told the play was "absurdist", and read it as such. But living in the United States now, I see it's completely realistic.
@abstractcode PETG? Yeah it strings A LOT. Bump the temperature down a notch and ramp up the non-extruding movement speed as far as you can.

Two days 😄
Yup, it’s been cheaper for decades to import doctors and nurses than properly fund universities to train them. And, suddenly, a load of them no longer want to come here because who would want to go to Brexit island? And now there’s a shortage domestically.
We saw something similar with Polish plumbers 20 years earlier. A lot came over when we had a big skills shortage, but then other places in Europe looked more attractive and so a huge number left.
Rich countries often treat immigrants as a source of exploitable labour and forget that people who are willing to move countries to get to you because it looks like there are better prospects are also often able to leave your country if somewhere else has better prospects (or if you decided to be a ‘hostile environment’ for them).
Yes, I'd agree (and boosted)

Your hairdresser is applying chemicals to your scalp.
And we have opinions about which ones. The very strong ones.
Some substances once used in hair dyes were linked to serious health risks. So, we restricted them in the EU cosmetics market.
No public drama. Just dangerous products replaced on salon shelves by better ones.
Your colour still looks the same. The risk profile doesn’t.

@EUCommission It's nice you enact policy directly benefitting your social media spox @hpod16 😀
(generally it's a good thing though, and with my weekly dye job I am grateful too)
