@Edent It still feels like a disaster waiting to happen.
We're just waiting longer than expected.
@InsertUser honestly, I think it would have happened by now.
@kde We are very much looking forward to following the progress on your work!
@sovtechfund @kde We (as in Freedesktop) should probably also apply for funding at some point.
I was thinking about some cross Desktop accessibility work could fit the bill.
Or trying to get off gitlab/rework our CI infrastructure.
But.. I don't think anybody of us has any experience with applying for grants in general, so it's a bit scary.
#nixos is somewhat of pioneer in the space of reproducible builds and is 20 years old
@gonzo_askold @orpach.neocities.org sure, but nix has still included packages that not in themselves were done reproducible I'm pretty sure.
I want to speak to the manager of storytelling

@davidgerard wow Adriana has just invented… misinformation 🙃
@sinchens_
@zdfheute
And even then, they are still higher quality than most chocolate in the UK.

…Meta Ray-Bans are a form of assault
@urlyman a vendor at a cooperative mall was evicted because he refused to stop wearing his. He was creeping other vendors out by photographing them without consent and talking about how he was trying to cover the video recording light. I can only imagine how customers felt when he focused on them and touched his glasses.
He and a bunch of his (old, Republican-voting) buddies tried to bury the mall with one-star reviews, all complaining that the management were "against new technology and progress".

@fishidwardrobe @neil Or they could have a clear visual indication that they are recording, like most cameras do - a blinking LED or something. Plus, yes, make them really easy to recognize.
@diandralinnemann @fishidwardrobe@mastodon.me.uk @neil they did, but they are very easy to disable.

Creeps are going to creep and frankly I hope Rayban sales suffer and the brand can be retired.
It's not like the owner of the brand cares, they own other glasses brands as well.
Very surprised this hasn't blown up yet. But in case you haven't heard, admins of so-far unnamed "popular" federated instances are feeding fedi users' post history to OpenAI for "political ideology analysis" under the delusion that this is an appropriate moderation practice. Surely there are others who might have a problem with this?
@piefedadmin has the details: https://join.piefed.social/2026/05/04/ai-assisted-moderation-in-the-fediverse-is-happening-now-what/
