@jleedev listen, i don't make the rules
@crankylinuxuser @mttaggart It's not "right like 90% or so at a time". The process of "right" happens in your head. You do the interpretation of the data streaming from the model. The bots are nothing without a human at the other end, as a crutch, using a unidirectional, blatant exploitation of Grice's Cooperative Principle.
@ahltorp @crankylinuxuser Show me a stat for 90% accuracy and I'll show you a made-up stat.
The code generation "works," as in, is syntactically correct and can compile. It better! Code is a highly structured, oversampled language in the training corpora. If it can't generate that, it's hopeless.
But would you trust a bridge designed by a LLM? How about a medical treatment plan? Or a business contract?
The fallacy tech keeps making is that any competency with code implies broader application.

Is it finally time to switch to Linux?
I’m not there yet, but after seeing a lot more interest in Linux over the past couple years while the hate for Microsoft has grown, this summer I want to give it a real shot. Maybe even with the new Framework laptop?
I explain why in this month’s recap!
@parismarx I was a long-time Apple user, but about 3 months ago I switched to Linux on a Framework laptop. It is a bit of a transition, but I am very glad that I had done it and I will not go back. Go for it!
I've seen "tips" for husbands on Mother's Day like "don't cook a meal at home for your wife, because then she's stuck doing the dishes"
...are the straights okay? (No, I know they aren't) Literally who cooks a meal as a gift and doesn't also do the dishes 😂
@darius men?
President Donald Trump and Iran rejected each other's latest peace proposals to end to the 10-week conflict as the two sides struggle to maintain a fragile ceasefire. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2026/05/11/world/politics/trump-iran-peace-offer-unacceptable/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #worldnews #politics #us #donaldtrump #middleeast #iran #straitofhormuz #oil #mojtabakhamenei #israel #benjaminnetanyahu

@jpm the amount of things burried in USB-C is ... amazing.
@petrillic that’s the great thing about standards, you can just ignore all the crap in the existing standards and roll your own
all of my posts on piracy come with a caveat: if you can support independent artists, please do. they could actually use the money, and in some cases it's their livelihood
@ericjames This is very true, but also - don't just buy their music! Especially for artists who are mainly selling through streaming platforms. If they're selling merch directly, they'll likely get more of a profit from that than music sales.
(Concert tickets vary, where I am even bigger artists can struggle to break even because of travel costs, and I'm not sure where physical media sales are at because last I heard, even in the pre-streaming era those were not really making the money for artists thanks to a bunch of bullshit from labels; these days I'd think the cost of the media itself would be eating into the profits quite a lot. If their merch is being sold by a third party though, they may not be getting as much for it, but I think even with mainstream labels they still usually get more from merch than music sales. Which is pretty screwed up, but...)
@TheSwiv @spytfyre they keep having terfs on who don't like being called terfs as well https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helen_Lewis_(journalist)

This humble, somewhat dilapidated shelter, a few miles south of SFO airport, once housed a medium wave aviation beacon (NDB). It currently hosts a variety of aviation surveillance sensors. Its location is also waypoint on the way to SFO runway 28R.
Essential infrastructure, integral to so much of the modern world, is often nearly invisible.
Infrastructure is heroic.
The Hungarian parliament raises the EU flag on the parliament building for the first time since Viktor Orbán took it down in 2014.
While the UK has left the EU and more UK voters are voting for anti-EU Nigel Farage, Hungary is on its way to a strong European future. Who would have predicted that 10 years ago?
@randahl yea. Kinda crazy when you think about it.
