@MsMerope @ai6yr Ehh, cat allergies are more complex than that - the protein that triggers the allergy is specifically found in their saliva and skin oil glands. Theoretically, because hairless cats don't shed fur that can carry the proteins they'd be slightly less allergenic, but not necessarily by enough to be okay for someone who's very allergic.
With that bring said, Cornish and Devon Rex cats are less allergenic even if they have fur (IIRC both breeds can also be hairless, but are not exclusively so), because they don't shed as much and tend to not need to groom themselves as much either.
But - I'd imagine hairless cats do better in extremely hot climates, as long as they have adequate sun protection.
@dartigen @MsMerope @ai6yr She said the hairless cat can't go outside in the winter because it's too cold, and can't go outside in the summer because it gets sunburned! Also the extreme cold we get here in Saskatchewan made the cat grow a tiny big of fuzzy fur on its back. Apparently the breeder (somewhere warmer, I guess?) was very surprised by this.
The cat happily climbed into my arms. It felt SO WEIRD. Kind of like holding a salamander, but very warm.

If 27 million catgirls isn't enough, how many more would we need? :owo_thanking:
@catsalad has Randall Munro got a fediverse account? Sounds like a question for him.
These sorts of arbitrary renames seem to make OpenStreetMap even more important than ever.

@angry_drunk @WTL @eramdam I concur
did a covid/rsv/flu combo RAT and it was all negative, but something kicked me in the arse so hard on friday night that i spent all weekend in bed - still feel like shit today but much less shit
@decryption RAT has a pretty high false negative rate, wouldn’t necessarily trust a single test

Would an EU politician please tell me why I — as an EU citizen — have to see unconventional, politicized place names dictated by Trump in both Google Maps and Apple Maps on an iPhone bought in the EU?
Are the European countries still sovereign states or have we somehow become vassal states of The Kingdom of Trumpistan?
@randahl
Google explains it in a blog post. They say that they use official names from the US GNIS, and the names have been changed in that database.
