that's my take
all if this is going to hurt republican and rural republicans more than anyone
@samiamsam @rayckeith I think we don't know for sure. But I think it's not obvious, either way.
@rayckeith I've heard that this is actually a possible foot-shooting. That is, that GOP voters are less likely, given the rules, to go to a polling place, and more likely, given the rules, to do a mail vote anyway.

@ntnsndr glitch-soc has markdown! one of the perks of running a fork of a fork of masto instead of mainline (among drawbacks)
and yes, i found myself saying frequently "the least radical thing we can do is cease to exist"
@jonny I love the weirdness of this fork-y network!
@GeePawHill The soundtrack of The Eddy (the Netflix series) introduced me to Jorja Smith. I love what she does with "Kiss me in the morning", which was composed for the show.
I'd nominate it for inclusion on those blank pages.
@AdaraAstin *Nice*.
@HikerGeek AI doesn't generate "paintings", it generates artificial photos. Unless you think the AI grabbed a paint brush.
AI does generate a vile lie of a painting though
@Perrin42 He plans to let ranchers process their own beef, bypassing the big USDA inspected processing facilities. This may not actually help the ranchers, since most of the supply chain is unlikely to accept beef that is not USDA inspected, for fear of consequences if bad beef gets into the system.
😮 😭
Trans people in Wales need your help right now (a thread)
Info from the Trans Tech Tent:
NHS Wales’ Quality, Safety and Outcomes Sub-Committee has transphobes in it.
The tories said the Welsh Gender Service was too good at its job and some dickhead journalist has made it everyone's problem.
Cis folks - keep reading and do the action points at the end of this thread, then boost and directly contact your other cis friends to get them to do the same.

I mean brey, we are murdering Latin American fishermen, with literal fucking missiles, for social media content.
Do not tell me I'm overreacting. You are all UNDERREACTING.
Like, there is no larger goal here. We're not trying to pressure these countries to sign a treaty or a minerals deal. We're not fighting drugs. We're not doing it for any other reason than Trump likes death, Hegseth is having a midlife crisis and Stephen Miller wants 4Chan posts so he can share them on White House official accounts online.
We are murdering fishermen for social media content.
And you folks are like "I dunno, maybe we should wait for November 2028 and do this the civilized way."
I forgot to mention, I submitted a Pull Request to update MacPorts' rtorrent to 0.16.21 here:
https://github.com/macports/macports-ports/pull/34293
Thanks to Herby Gilliot, it has been merged!
And yes, turns out: having libtorrent updated and merged, prior to submitting a PR for rtorrent, meant that the CI checks built OK. Lesson learned and hopefully remembered for the future!
In unrelated news, apparently one of the volunteers at my second job is going to be driving across country for a month, when I asked him why: apparently VCF in Chicago is one big reason. He builds retro computer enthusiast hardware such as this: https://www.tindie.com/stores/retromodem/
I looked into it and I think is was more of a painting. A vile lie of a painting but not a photo.

interpreting PKGBUILD as a shell document is a ridiculous thing to do
For reasons my retirement has been paused and I took work with an Inuit owned construction company currently building a 12 plex apartment. And soon a daycare. It’s 10 hour days, six days a week. Following that it’s make supper and then work on the workshop. And some family time before bed.
Which is a long winded way of saying social media will be a lot quieter. Apologies. #WorkshopBuild #life.
