They've done quite a bit to mitigate it in recent years, but still import quite a bit to some high population areas.

I've been hearing a lot of chatter about ChatGPT's new plug-in, which lets it read and send texts with Apple Messages. These are typically end-to-end encrypted messages, now being parsed by LLMs.

Do take a look at the comment on that article posted by someone named Arianity. It pushes back on some of the claims made in the article.

Namely, Arianity points out that this is a voluntary settlement, does not establish precedent, and does not bind anyone other than Meta. From this I infer that this settlement has no effect on the Fediverse or other non-commercial sites.

I certainly hope my inference is correct.
