Watching WataMote for the first time.
May God have mercy for my enemies because I won't.
Started an actual normal survival instance in Cozy Mizuno World. Recorded the session. Ended up right about here.
It's not too much and my ambitions aren't too high. I'll see what I can do to edit and post tonight.
@randomgeek Ooh nice shaders!
We are pleased to announce the release of Hockeypuck 2.4.1.
This is a bugfix release that primarily reimplements the hockeypuck-dump tool. It now works correctly while the hockeypuck server is running; previously it was recommended to invoke it only when the server was shut down, to avoid data consistency errors. It also fixes a long-standing bug which omitted 1 in every 256 keys from the output dump files, and a recently-introduced nil dereference panic during dump.
Release notes can be found at https://github.com/hockeypuck/hockeypuck/releases/tag/2.4.1
You can install the latest release by cloning the repo from
https://github.com/hockeypuck/hockeypuck and checking out the branch `branch-2.4`. It is not recommended to deploy from the `master` branch or the `latest` docker image in production.
You can find more information at the hockeypuck wiki:
https://github.com/hockeypuck/hockeypuck/wiki
Hockeypuck 2.4 development is kindly supported by @NGIZero Core.
----
Hockeypuck is a modern synchronising #OpenPGP #keyserver that is optimised for ease of deployment, particularly in containerised environments via docker-compose.

@farah it’s probably bad I can’t answer this question right now
@maddiefuzz It’s ok. You don’t have to. Sometimes you need time to coax them into existence

Like, this is not a conversation I have to have with nonwhite ppl. They know passively waiting for justice rarely ends well, and they have learned it from life experience. But it feels like white Americans are pretty sure that EVENTUALLY someone, some magic sky police I guess, is gonna come in and set all this straight.
That's not how it goes and you can write this down just like I told you to write down "Biden won't bust anyone IMPORTANT for the coup" in Feb 2021. If you wait, they get away.
@dragon imho every single process should have its own local view of i/o and there should be a precise set of operations by which data can be transferred across domains. in particular i believe this necessitates transactional semantics which can be layered on top of POSIX without any breakage
@dragon the more interesting and difficult part is how that then relates to persistence. i believe persistence and IPC are two wholly distinct concepts
The Trump administration has filed 36 emergency applications since last February, which have generated 31 conclusive rulings.
In those 31 rulings, the Court has voted *for* Trump in whole or in part 27 times (87.1%), and against him four times (12.9%).
Here's a chart covering all of these rulings:
#OtD 31 Aug 1972 a meeting of striking building workers decided to picket construction sites in Shrewsbury the following week. Those pickets would result in one of the biggest miscarriages of justice in UK trade union history. @onepict I picked "Needs some work", because things are definitely better than they used to be, but it feels like we solved a lot of the overt surface problems without really doing much about the deeper rot, and this is especially a problem visibly coming due lately with so many FOSS devs coming out of the fascism closet.
Here's an example of what I'm talking about (CW Ginger Bill, but not the section I'm referencing, from 1:46:25-1:48:59):

From a present day perspective, this study was rife with consent issues that feel eerily familiar to how LLM trainers reason about ethics. Now this was done by mostly white guys, to mostly white guys, so on paper, this isn't obviously a sexist act. But it *is* primarily women who would interpret this as a deeper signal about consent beliefs, and be skeeved out, and either leave or complain.
We might have a lot fewer (and easier to block) obvious trolls today, but we still have sooo much shit like this embedded in the culture.
I still remember my first real online connection was made by how both of us hated something. We revisited it years later; now that we’re both old enough, we both agreed - not the best way to start relationships, specially online.
It’s easy to give into outrage. Tell me what you enjoy/like/love and wished more people would know about it
@farah it’s probably bad I can’t answer this question right now
The category of tech individuals who think tech folks don't need/deserve unions, and folks who gleefully use LLMs is probably nearly a circle. It seems like the same kind of nearsighted selfishness/self-centeredness powering both of those Bad Opinions
Organizers and activists who oppose the Trump administration's policies should absolutely be paying close attention to this story: https://theintercept.com/2026/08/28/trump-antifa-terrorist-websites-free-speech/
They are trying to fabricate an enemy that does not exist… because every fascist leader needs a scapegoat. Pure evil, with every action like this, the Trump administration provides more evidence on their authoritarian agenda.

@morrick @grishka Reminds me of the pro photographer who taught me photo-editing workflows & DSLR-camera photography way back, when I had one year of journalism school (I dropped out after year 1 was completed). He used really old photo-editing software from the 1990s Mac OS days. He loves Macs 🙂, or at least did. That was 16 years ago. Not sure what he thinks of today’s era of aggressive “modernization”.
@Arcticulate @morrick I want to imagine that he still has one of those CRT iMacs to edit his photos on :)
FYI music fans, BrandCramp Fridays are still a thing. First Friday of every month, you can support artists whose music you enjoy without giving a cent to the unionbusting corporation that owns the platform;
@mycorrhiza I know, I know — I still call mine “Berkeleystocks,” and I’ve been wearing them for, oh, thirty years.
I had to get over my hippie-loathing, and come to terms with the fact that they’re just really, really comfortable.
@adamgreenfield Haha I love that. I’m not hating on anything here — I just feel like there’s been an uptick in fratty younger guys wearing them. I reckon some celeb/influencer gets the blame/credit for this and I’m curious who it is (and how bad they are).
I could cop a pair of (vegan) Birks. Here in my part of SoCal we’re not yet to the halfway point of local summer and my flip flops are disintegrating.
