Wife and I were at the #Calgary #stampede rodeo show a month ago, and while both in or 50s, we have white/grey hair, and me with my white beard.

The line to get in before security was a slow moving mass.

One of workers asked us if we wanted to go to the front of the line. A bit confused, we said "sure" then I noticed he was pulling out other elders, presumably so they didn't have to stand in the sun as long.

I think the difference between "generating text" and "reporting information" is of key importance here, thanks for hitting that nail on the head.

LLMs generate text that is statistically plausible based on the patterns discovered in the text they were trained on. The text they were trained on, and the text they generate, are just words to the LLM, it learns how they are used together and in what patterns, but doesn't understand any of them.

today I discovered that ~/Library/Caches/CloudKit/com.apple.bird/(a guid)/MMCS/ClonedFiles contained dozens of temporary copies of massive 800MB image files I'd been working with several months ago, which apparently never got cleaned up by Pixelmator.
