I am hoping and praying that the AI bubble pops before the next time I have to go looking for a job (which would ideally be "never", but 🤷 things don't always work out), so that I don't have to resort to working with bullshit AI recruiter companies like this one to avoid going hungry.
Let's talk about all the things that are wrong with this email, shall we?

Screenshot of email from "Sophia Clera <sophia@getblona.com>" with subject "Jonathan, start-up roles?" and this text:

Hi Jonathan,

Saw you led infosec for VA.gov at 18M monthly visitors and managed ATO renewal across government bureaucracy. That's a different beast than typical startup security.

I work with VC-backed companies hiring very selectively for talent - think ex-OpenAI, ex-Stripe, and teams backed by top-tier investors. Many of them don’t post roles publicly; they’ve asked me to introduce exceptional talents who’ve already made a real impact and your profile fits well.

If you're curious, I can put together a short list of selective roles that could be a great fit.

Regards,
Sophia
Talent Partner | Clera

P.S. Bet you don't miss the multi-million-dollar contractor procurement reviews and incident visibility all the way up to the Secretary.

🪦 The Death of 'Senior'

「 In an effort to create a flat, egalitarian utopia, they’ve removed senior titles entirely. Everyone is just “Software Engineer.” Doesn’t matter if you’ve been writing production systems longer than the intern’s been alive. Titles are seen as divisive 」
