Crunchyroll needs a better recommendation algorithm. It pretty much just recommends shows I’ve already watched or am currently watching, and that’s not helpful for discovering new shows.
Gente!
Chapter 71 — Build 232
The queue that asked first
What changed
Build 232 makes long listening sessions easier to control. Repeated skips and
near-end seeks no longer bounce backward. Podcast pages have in-place episode
search. Rows can show time remaining, and VoiceOver speaks it only when that
Accessibility option is enabled. Transcripts can be exported as timestamped,
speaker-aware Markdown.
Downloads now ask before doing large work. Download All handles at most 50
eligible episodes per request and reports exactly what started, was skipped, or
was deferred. Cancel active downloads stops unfinished transfers without
deleting completed files. Clear All Downloads says approximately how much
storage it will free. Optional completion notifications open the podcast feed.
The full player can dismiss after the last episode ends. Remove from Inbox no
longer marks an episode played. Quick Actions can be removed, restored, and
reordered without dragging. Siri and Shortcuts can skip forward or back. For a
legacy unsecured audio link, Earshot first tries HTTPS silently; if that fails,
it asks before playing and remembers that podcast's approval on this device.
**What to test**
Near an episode's end, skip forward and back repeatedly and scrub into the last
few minutes. The position must not jump backward. Search a podcast, change its
heard filter and sort, export a transcript, and check time remaining with its
Accessibility option both off and on.
Choose Download All with more than 50 eligible episodes. Confirm only 50 start
and the final counts are exact. Cancel active downloads and confirm finished
files remain. Before clearing downloads, check that the episode count and
approximate storage are announced. Test the optional completion notification.
Also try Remove from Inbox, Quick Action editing, Siri skip in both directions,
and natural completion of the final queued episode with player dismissal on.
If you encounter the unsecured-audio warning, verify Cancel stops and Play
episode works without another warning for that podcast on this device.
Kashe had eight hundred voices waiting and one careless tap between them and
her phone's storage. This time Earshot counted the first fifty and asked.
She canceled halfway through. The finished episodes stayed. The unfinished
ones stopped. Even the space she could recover had a number.
Renata asked whether that felt slower.
“No,” Kashe said. “It felt like I was the one holding the button.” Earshot Podcasts https://testflight.apple.com/join/u8dj5UTr
@esm That’s true so long as there’s no economic pressure on companies for their sites/apps to perform well, but a much wider percentage of the population not being able to upgrade might finally start applying that pressure. Like when people felt the pressure to make their sites work well on cell phones when they first launched
@esm We’ll see, I guess. I’m not totally optimistic but I feel like we’re at an inflection point of some kind.
I decided to go with the latest Wallaroo wallpaper from @Iconfactory.
It’s called Mod.

Ukraine is defending the core principles that are at the heart of Europe: sovereignty, democracy, and the right to choose its own future.
The EU’s solidarity with Ukraine is stronger than ever.
Are they taking the piss?
@TheBreadmonkey
but, is it a christmas movie ?
@alilly @alcinnz CRDTs don't specify _how_ you resolve conflicts, as long as you use a deterministic algorithm to do so (so that the multiple devices always arrive at the same eventual consistency).
You can have your 'eventual consistency' be a domain-specific “conflict" state with UI… as long as your algorithms can cope with a user pressing A on one device and B on another, and again eventually resolve that back to a deterministic consistent state!
but it's even worse this time because it's the same shit as lattice crypto where the paper is an "extended abstract" and the real one is named the same and impossible to find
The cryptographic assumption, needed for the security of the recipients, is that we have an infinite sequence of groups G_p of known prime orders p, where one can perform the group operations and choose random elements efficiently, but the discrete logarithm is hard.
that is not an assumption i will make?????
unpopular opinion
The ternary operator is all fun and games until you end up with a branch coverage drop without a line number for the culprit (because one of the branches is covered).

Anything else?
@AnarchoNinaWrites a not insignificant reason they started the war was a "highly placed source" who recounted the plot of The Rock (1996) to MI6
these people are fucking clowns. they always have been.
i have never, ever seen any good evidence that intelligence has prevented even a single attack. and i have to believe if it ever happened the apparatus would be trumpeting it from every rooftop.
it's just a series of abusers turning each other out

You can absolutely create new technological advancements without needing to build in surveillance or genAI.

(Note: the step counter and bluetooth are localized to the watch. You set it up to be recorded by another app. If that other app breaks privacy and sends telemetry back to some uncontrolled centralized server, then that defeats the purpose. But if the app just records and stores locally or sends back to a controlled server, then it's chill.)
@tinker I freaking love my casio watches. They're so worth it!
Newsflash, and I would like the Canadians to pay attention here for a minute because this affects you and your media is not telling you the truth:
There was NEVER a deal to be made. We are NOT negotiating. Trump wants to take over Canada and every trade deal we "negotiate" with you is just another means to that objective. We are NOT negotiating. People NEGOTIATING don't demand to control your trade agreements forever. This was NEVER a negotiation, it's war in suits.
