Chapter 71 — Build 232
The queue that asked first
What changed
Build 232 makes long listening sessions easier to control. Repeated skips and
near-end seeks no longer bounce backward. Podcast pages have in-place episode
search. Rows can show time remaining, and VoiceOver speaks it only when that
Accessibility option is enabled. Transcripts can be exported as timestamped,
speaker-aware Markdown.
Downloads now ask before doing large work. Download All handles at most 50
eligible episodes per request and reports exactly what started, was skipped, or
was deferred. Cancel active downloads stops unfinished transfers without
deleting completed files. Clear All Downloads says approximately how much
storage it will free. Optional completion notifications open the podcast feed.
The full player can dismiss after the last episode ends. Remove from Inbox no
longer marks an episode played. Quick Actions can be removed, restored, and
reordered without dragging. Siri and Shortcuts can skip forward or back. For a
legacy unsecured audio link, Earshot first tries HTTPS silently; if that fails,
it asks before playing and remembers that podcast's approval on this device.
**What to test**
Near an episode's end, skip forward and back repeatedly and scrub into the last
few minutes. The position must not jump backward. Search a podcast, change its
heard filter and sort, export a transcript, and check time remaining with its
Accessibility option both off and on.
Choose Download All with more than 50 eligible episodes. Confirm only 50 start
and the final counts are exact. Cancel active downloads and confirm finished
files remain. Before clearing downloads, check that the episode count and
approximate storage are announced. Test the optional completion notification.
Also try Remove from Inbox, Quick Action editing, Siri skip in both directions,
and natural completion of the final queued episode with player dismissal on.
If you encounter the unsecured-audio warning, verify Cancel stops and Play
episode works without another warning for that podcast on this device.
Kashe had eight hundred voices waiting and one careless tap between them and
her phone's storage. This time Earshot counted the first fifty and asked.
She canceled halfway through. The finished episodes stayed. The unfinished
ones stopped. Even the space she could recover had a number.
Renata asked whether that felt slower.
“No,” Kashe said. “It felt like I was the one holding the button.” Earshot Podcasts https://testflight.apple.com/join/u8dj5UTr
