Unprecedented grift and theft justified "with inaccurate claims."

New tattoo, which was really the opportunity to lie still and listen to the story of a young tattooist starting out. We talked about bodies, injuries, surgeries, healing, family, love. What a craft it is to put ink on someone that will be there for their whole life.
@kate I love hearing about someone’s new artwork that they’d been looking forward to, what did you get?
Obvious joke, LLMs, don't tell me this is inherent to LLMs because that is in fact the obvious joke
If LLMs could solve the "don't confidently output shit that makes no sense sometimes" problem they could really be something.
@jonny well... We can train a human to be an expert in a field and (1) they can output shit sometimes and (2) they can out reasonable and logical responses that other highly trained human experts vehemently reject.
It's not just that you can't train an AI to "not be wrong". That's not even how knowledge works.
Voilà, nettement mieux.
I’ve been noticing little everyday escalations during this latest record-breaking heatwave. I wonder how soon I’ll stop noticing them because they’ve become the new climate-collapse normal.
City parks empty by day because it’s too hot to sunbathe
Empty cold-drink fridges in shops
People draping scarfs over their hats as face veils
Rows of apartments with the curtains closed all day
The café’s window table with the great view is now the last, not the first, to be occupied
@prosaluxemburg #Njalla is owned by an anti-fascist. #Mullvad is 50% owned by a fascist.
Does that help?
@aral sorry if I was being unclear 😊 that's the background to the question, I'm looking to move away from mullvad due to the fash situation, and I have a base-line trust for njalla. Do you have experience using njalla? How is that working for you? Key use-cases for me are DNS-based adblocking, and torrenting. I'm sure I can figure out the adblocking, but say that I want to help seed eg DDoSSecrets' stuff, is njalla a good option or do I need another VPN provider to do that if I want to avoid compromising my privacy?
[WIP] Experimenting with a somewhat brutal design for the Curator feature of Flowvibe. There are some excellent resources available for inspiration and I love the retro feel of it.
Susan Collins reading the paper:

Starting my migration to @Tutanota from Proton. I went with the Legendary plan, so I'm committed.
I'm looking forward to Tuta Drive, once it's more widely available.
@TheLastOfHisName @Tutanota Why? Proton seems awesome tome.
Realtek RTL8723BS WiFi Linux Driver Hardened Against Malicious WiFi Access Points
The staging driver fixes that were sent out this week ahead of the Linux 7.2-rc3 release is predominantly made up of hardening the Realtek RTL8723BS WiFi driver. In particular, a number of fixes for addressing out-of-bounds behavior when connecting to "bad" WiFi hosts...

@Gargron did you bring us cats?
@coldclimate Yes
@ah wait what? is this true - the Claude thing?
i am constantly baffled by the lack of curiosity demonstrated by retro hardware enthusiasts who use llms to make their stuff. it's like... i thought we were here to understand how computers work from a historical and material perspective, in order to build a future for computation that empowers communities over corporate interests, and to redeem the knowledge bottled up in retro hardware design to enrich the commons. but no i guess you're here for the frisson of "lookie old thing does new thing"

HE'S HOME!!!!
40 posters around the area. Probs 100 or so doors knocked on yesterday.
A young girl had come to the door with her dad at one, when we'd knocked. She spotted him while coming home from a park. She and her friends alerted an adult who got the number off a nearby poster and rang us.
He is now full of chicken and enjoying recovery hugs.
@garius great news
