Nous avons ouvert une cagnotte parce qu'un ami qui fait parti de notre communauté est mort récemment.
Nous sommes engagé·es dans des procédures judiciaires vis à vis de la famille, c'est pourquoi nous lançons cette cagnotte.
🔴 Les démarches auxquelles nous sommes confrontées visent aussi à faire évoluer la jurisprudence sur la prise en charge des obsèques par la famille choisie d'une personne.

What about federation across instances?
Ahh, well that's the neat part. You only need to federate with pelago.1sland.social, it doesn't matter whether one instance federates with another.
This a good way to keep in contact across servers that might have banned each other (which are themselves not rightly banned by the community in Pelago for other reasons).
What about moderation?
Any instance or individual on the Community Reports, sourced by the community, that has a 'drop' or 'reject' recommendation is banned from using this discussion group feature at all.
So if someone abuses it, let me know, and we'll have another good example for our community report that can be used to justify banning them across all Pelago groups. It's already a subscribeable FIRES dataset.
My next priority is letting a thread creator as well as the network owner (and mods) have additional moderation actions they can perform, like banning someone either from the thread or the group entirely, but that's a lot of work and this was already an ocean of work as it is, so I'm letting that settle first.
In the short term, a thread creator should be able to delete or lock an entire thread, and a group owner should be able to moderate by deleting the post in question. Within Pelago you can 'downvote' as well as likely/upvote so shitty posts and behavior will be visible in the app, and admins of a group can review all threads tagged as 'New' to find new posts for review and make sure everyone is playing nicely.
Feel free to screenshot and report anyone abusing the system.
