This is a BFD - watch this story. If any other country were to steal the assets of another country, move the money into a Qatari bank account and claim to have disbursed them with no audit controls we would see IMF and potentially ICC involvement. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/02/11/us/venezuela-oil-money-democrats-congress.html

“The concept of an AI that predicts the future in terms of whether somebody is going to commit a crime is fundamentally problematic,” EFF’s Jacob Hoffman-Andrews told FedScoop. https://fedscoop.com/justice-department-artificial-intelligence-ai-surveillance-inventory-predictive-technology-algorithm-bias/
In the last week, I’ve seen an uptick in ‘AI is good for boilerplate’ posts. It is 2026. Metaprogramming is over 50 years old. Why are we writing boilerplate at all, much less creating expensive tools that let us write more of it faster?
aren't we overdue for another billionaire sacrifice to the ocean gods?

Messaging a friend. "welcome to $town. Your hotel is $distance away"
"How the hell did you know that?"
You'd be amazed how much people leak info...
had a good conversation earlier that went something like this:
them: “is AI making pentesting easier?”
me: “yes.”
them: “why, because you can use it to look for vulnerabilities in code quicker?”
me: “no, because it generates vulnerabilities in code quicker”
When I was being interviewed by @killyourfm , he asked if I was innodated with people reaching out for support after giving away so many laptops.
Not at all. And in fact, the most common message I get is like this.
That's right. A literal grandmom who is successfully using a #nixbook with zero issues to enhance her life.
All on a computer that was headed to the garbage.
"The science is unequivocal: we must transition away from fossil fuels at emergency speed, while doing far more to support our communities with adapting to this new era of climate whiplash." https://www.greenpeace.org/international/story/80908/climate-whiplash-understanding-todays-violent-weather-extremes/
@greenpeace We can all cut our carbon footprint at least 50% adopting a 100% plant based diet. We must all as individuals take as many actions as we can and stop waiting for Governments to do this.
@Flipboard is there a way to follow publications that have Flipboard accounts but I can't find on the Fedi/Mastodon? I'd really love to follow https://flipboard.com/@Truthout
HI @kostyn, we can look into getting this federated for you!

@catsalad no! I’m on vacation!
I love that simply because it gave me joy I kept my chaotic blogging style with its long sentences for long enough until now it's finally an advantage because it's obviously human while all the bland marketing-style writing in tech reads like terrible AI writing regardless of whether it is or isn't
