@stux Saw a clip last night of an antivaxxer who said we don't need vaccines.
Interviewer: "Not even the polio vaccine?"
Her: "There hasn't been a case of polio since the 1960s"
Interviewer: "So.. since the vaccine?"
Her: "Yeah".

“You are enough. And anyone who tells you otherwise is not worth your time.” - Dolly Parton 💜
@AnarchoNinaWrites
Lol, same. I'd never thought of it in those terms, but there are a whole bunch of artists who I respect as talented, but who simply do not so anything for me, and yeah... This is the common theme.
@AnarchoNinaWrites
Oh, I don't like the music either. But I'm a big fan of the books for kids.
@tlariv @AnarchoNinaWrites Hard same. Country is not my thing. But Jolene… that’s different story
Today's Low Quality Ad is for this Cuddle Cats Pin. If I know cats, this adorable moment will last approximately 3 more seconds before orange cat starts holding black cat down by the scruff and repeatedly kicking him in the ribs.

Author William T. Vollmann’s latest – and possibly last – 3,000 page novel examines American foreign policy before and after 9/11.
A humanities scholar considers whether it can help readers navigate the tumultuous seas of the post-truth era:

I've wanted to change the email address for my Apple ID for a few years now but I'm terrified to do it. I've kept around my Apple Core Labs domain only because that's the email address I use. 🤣
I'm afraid it'll break everything and I may not be able to get all of my purchases back if I do that.
Anyone have good or bad experiences changing their account email address? I'd love to hear them!
@fahrni did it probably a decade ago and had 0 issues.

I've been in a bad mental spot for a few reasons lately, and the news about Dolly Parton didn't help. What has helped is seeing the level of community support of her memory, including my favorite cocktail bar, Kro Bar in Bothell, WA, featuring her dirty martini on their daily specials menu.
@Corgisaurus see also Dylan Hollis' new video about her banana pudding recipe
@jbz I misread it as "cyberpunk" and got really offended, and then I read again and omg yes.
My marks are all in the system. I did pretty good for feeling like life has been me mess after another pretty much since the day I pushed “Send” on my Grad school app in 2023. I feel unfinished - so much more I want to learn & do.
But, the pile of stuff I still want to read can wait. Enjoying the first fiction audiobook I’ve managed to pay attention to in I don’t know how long. “When the Moon Hits Your Eye”.
This is so silly as a premise and somehow just absolutely delightful. Thanks @scalzi

"I don't have a problem with raising taxes, as long as I'm getting bang for my buck."
#CameronBagrie, economist, 2026
This is a very Scandinavian sentiment, and I get the impression this is how even many very comfortable people in Aotearoa are feeling now. Greens, TPM, and especially TOP, have all proved raising taxes isn't a vote loser, when paired with smart plans about how to use the resulting revenue.
