I haven’t been to the RMIT TAFE library (building 94) in 20 years and back then it ruled because they had G4 PowerMacs with unlimited access to AARNET’s fat gigabit pipe. Today I’m back and they have monitors, keyboards and mice to dock your laptop with! This is fucken sick

every single student around me has either claude, gemini or chagpt running side by side with whatever task it is they're doing (someone's got a CAD thing going, someone else is going hard in VS Code, another guy is watching YouTube, but still has ChatGPT on his laptop screen)

@randahl this is both very concerning and utter unsurprising.
the far right ideology and imagery are being used to keep 'we, the people' separated and feeling isolated and hopeless. it's a power grab and it's happening all over the world. far-right parties globally are slowly taking hold because 'traditional' government is being undermined by the broligarchy and big E-Corps. the average voter is disenchanted and thinking selfishly that the populist speeches will help deliver an answer.

Alright, I've been out of the loop. Can someone catch me up on meshtastic vs meshcore.
Assume that I have no users of either in my area, which makes more sense for me to start bootstrapping?

@ajroach42 Usage of one over the other tends to be highly regional from what I've seen, so check out both and see what's available locally, if anything. On the message-passing side, Meshtastic is flood routing with a TTL (awful in dense networks, but it mostly works in smaller ones) and famously uninterested in anything better, Meshcore does flood routing for first (or lost) contact with a recipient, with acks and then uses that path from there on, which is better but still has noteworthy failure modes. Reticulum does actual next-hop routing with announcements and tolerates asymmetric links. If nobody has anything in your area yet, I'd personally do Reticulum if it meets your needs, or Meshcore if I had to pick between the two Mesh* options.

Fifty three years ago I started the day as a child and ended it as a mom. This was the first photo of me and my daughter. We both still had our hospital bracelet on.
The hospital where she delivered never even gave me a room. I was left in a hallway and discharged about eight hours after I arrived. As an unwed mother I didn't warrant a red carpet welcome. I paid them $250 and went home to the room I rented in an old Victorian house. Obviously there were holes in the wallpaper but we were warm and safe and we were living within our means. I was fourteen years old and ninety eight pounds.
I'm sharing my story because it shows all good things are possible.
My daughter turned into the best kind of human.
It wasn't easy but I have zero regrets.
True grit was never personified by John Wayne types but by regular people surviving against the odds.
Disappointing the doubters was sweet consolation.
She gave me the gift of grandkids too.
I've had a good life.
So far.
