I work with many people in the corporate structure and "not putting a value in their work" is exactly one of the reasons why they are fine with all this AI-bullshit.
They are just exchanging their time for money. Nothing more. No value creation happening.

And for some people the only time they started to create "value" is when they used LLM to make a lot of work that looks "professional". And this hooks them very bad.

anyone wondering what’s bad about FUTO funding netbsd and netbsd not turning down the money is welcome to explore FUTO’s YouTube channel, which platforms right-wing cranks and spreads disinformation, FUTO’s site, which is full of fascist dogwhistles and references to other fascist disinformation networks, and FUTO’s history in general

this is what I mean when I tell you switching to netbsd is a fragile solution

@sundogplanets why not both? :)

I don't understand how more people don't see this. They're strip-mining the internet and selling it back to you via taps that they control. It's crazy to me that people are so quick to willingly surrender to what is clearly a new form of mass oppression that's taking root.

I'm already dealing with fresh college grads who can't arrive at solutions without prompting, it's extremely alarming every time I run into these people in classes.

Also, as an aside, the people who are okay with slopping code but don't like it when art is slopped are a whole other enigma to me. Like, do you just not value your work? Is that it?

@andyc @feoh maybe it would be better to specify it in the repo’s readme

@luca Single use software isn't new to LLMs. It's been around since the dawn of computing and remains extremely prevalent in forms like spreadsheets and shell scripts, whether prepared by hand or with LLMs.

@McWabbit I disagree. Americans need to vote in vast numbers, take back the House and the Senate, investigate the hell out of this administration, and prosecute every criminal to Kingdom come.

The angsty teenager upstairs is loudly listening to angsty teenage music which is 100% fair and justified. However, they're listening to '90s angsty teenage music which leaves me somewhat puzzled. Maybe contemporary angsty teenage music sucks? Or they don't make it anymore?

@TheBreadmonkey

It's why I, like my mother with her clasp leather pocketbook, always stock extra.

Once on a drive through the US Mojave Desert in the early 1960s, she calmly plucked unexpected frozen washclothes wrapped in recycled plastic bags for us kids in the backseat, before there was air-conditioning.

Good luck, Ben.

@FranceskAlbs AI slop, please edit post to note this.

@BenGleason

Do I want to go for a bike ride now while it's still a little frosty but not windy? Or wait until the afternoon when it will be windy but warm? Hmmm

@Compeuter thank you!
