How important is it to call things by their right name?
@dartigen @MsMerope @ai6yr She said the hairless cat can't go outside in the winter because it's too cold, and can't go outside in the summer because it gets sunburned! Also the extreme cold we get here in Saskatchewan made the cat grow a tiny big of fuzzy fur on its back. Apparently the breeder (somewhere warmer, I guess?) was very surprised by this.
The cat happily climbed into my arms. It felt SO WEIRD. Kind of like holding a salamander, but very warm.
@sundogplanets @dartigen @MsMerope HAHAHAHAHAHA
@teadrinker @epicdemiologist Huh I'll have to look that one up...
@sundogplanets @teadrinker My cookbook calls them "szilvΓ‘s gombΓ³c" and describes them as "a potato dumpling with a pitted purple plum inside it, and a melted sugar cube inside that."
Got roped into helping an elderly neighbour pick plums off multiple trees. Definitely didn't have time to do that, but it was really nice chatting with her, she let me pat her hairless cat (!!) and now I have probably 50 pounds of really tasty plums that I need to figure out what to do with (a very good problem to have).
Seriously, HALP I HAVE SO MANY PLUMS
Boom, our 17yo has just got his full drivers' license in our (34 yo) manual Subaru. Well done, son, I'm proud of you! π (Turns out taking the test in a manual car is an increasing rarity - apparently his examiner said for her it was about one every 3 weeks)
@lightweight There will no doubt come a time where there'll be only a few examiners actually qualified to assess driving a manual. "Oh, you have a manual? You need to be assessed by Mary, she only works every other Tuesday."
L-sit and Lolasana, week 2
And on the topic @kenshirriff is posting about, here's my old macro photo of an Ampex core memory module.

If 27 million catgirls isn't enough, how many more would we need? :owo_thanking:
@catsalad
I mean you're already past that just in fedi accounts.

@bagder LMAO nerd π
It's interesting that Google's compliance with non-law government directives regarding the names of bodies of water is so blazingly fast, because, they say, it's their responsibility under the law and they're just following orders...
...and yet their compliance with laws regarding labor rights, collective bargaining, sexual harrassment, and workforce diversity was and is glacial, despite being actual laws.
Every response is a choice.
