I am a "yes". The novel was John Irving's first huge splash, _The World According to Garp_.
I read it shortly after it hit mass-market paperback, and then I tore it apart and put it in three different trash cans.
Irving's a gifted writer, w/o question. The book is enthralling, a page-turner. (He's written better since, too.)
I destroyed the book because not a single line of it made me believe he cared about even a single character in it.
It's a long and very dark story, but then, so is Mistry's _A Fine Balance_ or Styron's _Sophie's Choice_. I didn't throw those away, cuz their author's loved their characters greatly, even as they went through the hell of the story.

@AstralAudio Oh I agree, that's why I called Bryn out on their crap, if they've got nothing positive to say and just wanna bring up past drama for no reason, then they need to stop and reflect and wonder, is this gonna get anywhere. I've spent too long letting people walk all over me, treating me like dogshit, but no longer, I am done being the blind community's punching bag for their drama, and if they don't like it, then they can just ignore it and move on with their life.

Similar as to how Twitter got ruined by tech bro money, TikTok was also hijacked. And it's genuinely so harmful to our freedom of information. TikTok was way more than a silly little dance app.
Had TikTok been decentralized, like @joinloops , or like @Mastodon in the case of Twitter, they couldn't have taken over the whole community. Anyone could have started a new server and excluded the one that was now poisoned. Take over the whole company? Cool, the project gets forked.

As I was getting ready for the Folsom Street Fair, I heard this Red Shouldered Hawk yelling at the top of their lungs. I knew they were close because the calls were loud.
I peeked out the back door, and there they were, perched on the corner of a neighbor's deck at eye level. The hawk stayed while I ran to grab my camera.
