@heidilifeldman good thread but minor correction; the earliest post primary 2026 midterm ballots are scheduled to start mailing from North Carolina this week, tomorrow Sept 4th, not next. Haven't heard if anyone's ballot envelope design has been approved by Trump's USPS yet, but NC allegedly submitted it early. So I guess we'll start finding out tomorrow how much of a 💩 show Trump's USPS illegal election interference causes.

Ich wünsche mir daher: Datacenter denen, die ihre Daten dort haben! ✊🏾

@AwetTesfaiesus Bei uns bauen die Stadtwerke (mehr oder weniger, es gibt komplizierte Beteiligungsverhältnisse) gerade ein RZ. Es gibt daran einiges zu kritisieren, aber darum geht es mir jetzt nicht. Sondern: was würden wir als mündige, digital aktive und engagierte Bürger:innen idealerweise damit anfangen wollen?
Im Moment ist es als Colocation Center geplant, d.h. die Gebäudehülle und die Strom- und Kühl-Infrastruktur gehört (mehr oder weniger) der Kommune, und es wird die Möglichkeit vermietet, da Kisten reinzustellen. Der Mieter kann dann seinerseits die Benutzung seiner dortigen Kisten weitervermieten...
Sollten wir "unsere" eigenen Kisten da drin haben? Als städtischer Betrieb (identisch mit dem Betreiber des Gebäudes oder eine andere städtische Gesellschaft wie z.B. in unserem Fall die KDZ), oder eben als private Genossenschaft? Und sollte daneben noch ein Colocation-Angebot am Markt erfolgen? Mit welchen Auflagen (z.B. Abnahmezwang des städtischen Ökostroms, aber was noch)?

This little case mod held up well in last night's tempest (currently running #Meshcore as a trial, usually #Meshtastic), lashing 120-130kph winds, driving rain. It got knocked around but was fine. Stayed on the mesh all night.
